簡介：姚明出生于上海市第六醫院。他的父母都是籃球運動員，父親姚志源身高2.08米，曾效力于上海男籃；母親方鳳娣身高1.88米，是70年代中國女籃的主力隊員及前國家隊女籃隊長。
原中國男籃主力中鋒。2002年以狀元秀身份被NBA的休斯頓火箭隊選中。03~08連續六個賽季入選NBA西部全明星陣容(07賽季因傷成看客，09~10賽季因傷可能缺席整個賽季)。2009年7月成為上海東方隊老板，成為中國第一位擁有球員和老板雙重身份的籃球運動員。
